Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small town located in the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. A lot of people who aren't aware of they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is it is the West Island includes everything westward from that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently mentioned, but her brief time in the city wasn't. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. In her early years, she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. In an article published in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I grew out of my male counterparts, I gave up. Former dancers often turn to acting and in the case of Brugel it was an urging from her teacher of drama. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out as Anne in the school's annual production. She tried out and eventually got the role of the main character for the role in Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Master of Fine Arts at York University. Her career spans 20 years and she's been in over 60 productions that have screened on large screens and smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was that of Rita (pictured below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast for Season 1 of the series, and only seen occasionally.
